The Fragrance Foundation was founded in 1949 and is a non-profit educational part of the international fragrance industry. It also sponsors the annual Fragrance Awards which are known as the “Oscars of the fragrance industry” and has been operational since 1973. The event is held in New York and approximately 1,000 people attend.

The Fragrance Foundation also launched a Fragrance Day in 2018 the first of which was 21st March 2018 and numerous brands and retailers held promotions and social media campaigns.
In promoting many of the brands designers and celebrities from theatre, film and television industries get involved and will use their renown to promote the perfumes and various other products to enhance sales etc.
2019 Ariana Grande was awarded Fragrance of the Year for Cloud by LUXE Brands Firmenich
2015 Taylor Swift.Fragrance of the Year for Incredible Things by Elizabeth Arden
2010 Halle by Halle Berry was awarded Fragrance of the Year for Coty Prestige
